I have spent the majority of my nearly 20 years as a massage therapist working full-time at a wonderful location in Oakland. Piedmont Springs has been my home for these past many years, an incubator for my bodywork practice and an awesome place to have landed. There I learned to work with all manner of folk, and their various needs and wants. Although the majority of the clients I have seen over the years have come to me for relief from the stress of everyday life, I have also practiced geriatric massage, prenatal and postnatal massage, manual therapy for recovery from injuries related to repetitive stress, sports-related injuries and life-related injuries. I have worked on people undergoing treatment for cancer as well as those newly cancer-free. I spent a year volunteering for Hospice of the East Bay providing massage to folks as a part of their end of life care.
The feedback I hear most often from clients is that they appreciate my tempo. My work tends to move slowly, allowing me to sink into the tissue and to wait and listen and hear what it has to say to me. My work can be deep and gentle and restorative.
I am certified in Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage from the McKinnon School of Massage, Pre-and Postnatal Massage from Body Therapy Associates, Deep Tissue with Advanced Rolfer Art Riggs from the San Francisco School of Massage and I have a Certificate of Advanced Myofascial Techniques from Advanced Trainings, an incredible institution founded by Advanced Rolfer Til Luchau.
I am currently studying Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy with Gary Peterson. The more I explore and learn about Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy the more I am intrigued and convinced of its value in my work and in my life. I am excited to incorporate BCST into my massage practice. I believe it adds another layer of relaxation and healing.
I have a BA in German Language and Culture from UCLA and a BA in Studio Art from Mills.
